How to Declutter Your Decor

How to Declutter Your Decor Expand options

Decluttering your decor can be a challenge. One minute, your house looks like a page from a design magazine, and the next, it’s a cluttered mess. It’s not easy to achieve a minimalist balance, and display your decor especially when you want to use several pieces all at once. Fortunately, you can manage these items and transform your space through a few different tips and tricks.

Here’s how you can declutter your decor:

+Cut the kitchen clutter

Even if you have a beautiful collection of many cookbooks, jars and dishes—you don’t need to display all of them at once.

When you want your space to look put together—it’s essential to favor function. Do your best to go through each accessory. Save a few key items to display and donate or store everything else.

You can use a lot of different methods to create a functional, stylish area. For instance, invest in a rack where you can hang your pots and utensils. Get bar stools you can tuck underneath the island. Or hang additional shelving, for your spices and cookbooks.

+Use table trays

Table trays serve as a catch-all for random bits. For example, you could use one on a coffee table to hold remotes and a candle. These containers provide a convenient spot that you can use to store various items. Then, you’ll be less likely to leave objects out and about. You can buy table trays that compliment your design and color schemes, too.

That said, you’ll need to be diligent about clutter. Even though table trays help, they won’t look attractive if there’s a ton of junk piled on them.

Sometimes, we hang up one too many pictures. A wall full of too much bright art and photos can overwhelm a room. In such cases—try a minimalist approach. Additionally, if you rotate different pieces, you’ll be able to adapt to new styles as seasons change.

As a rule of thumb, try not to use more than five prints at a time. A strategic arrangement of multiple photos looks nice, but you don’t want to go overboard.

+Balance the bookshelf

In recent years, many people have flocked to the “stacked book” trend. Piles of well-worn novels and coffee table reads can add a bit of cozy charm. But, this approach looks best with minimal books. Try to remove any unnecessary ones.

Grab a donation box so that you can find them another home.

Or, store your beloved collection.

If you don’t have a lot of room, your everyday items can add to the clutter. That’s why, try functional storage options. A spacious, hollow ottoman works perfectly anywhere, but an overly decorated family room tends to be the best spot. Remember, pillows and throws count as decor—so when you don’t need those, stow them inside.

Additionally, ottomans can serve as a footrest or hold your favorite magazines or add a bit of flair to the area overall.

Use These Methods for a Clutter-Free Home

Even though it seems a bit tricky at first, with these simple steps you can declutter your decor and accomplish a beautiful, clutter-free home.
