1. Grab a few legos

If you have kids, Legos are likely hiding around your house or scattered across the floor. Make cleaning fun by encouraging your kids to pick up their Lego pieces so they can make a chessboard with all their favorite characters.

As long as you have square pieces to designate the different spots to move and enough characters to represent all the chess players, you can play Lego chess the next time you get bored. Take the step to record which characters are which pieces so everyone remembers how to move them correctly.

2. Play guess who with friends

Guess Who is a classic game that you can recreate with pictures of your friends and family members. Print their photographs and tape them to your board, or stand them up on a piece of paper with tape. Follow the standard rules and you’re guaranteed to have a fun conversation and tons of laughter.

3. Make memory cards

When you want a quick game that doesn’t take up space in your hall closet, make memory cards. As long as each card is part of a matching pair, you can flip them over and challenge your loved ones to find the matches. Draw the pictures yourself or use photos you like.

4. Print your new game

There’s also the easy option to print your new game, like bingo or crossword puzzles. You can pick your game based on what kind of challenge you’re looking for and choose more difficult ones as you get better. With the power of a printer, there’s a multitude of new activities at your disposal.

5. Recreate ‘Tic-Tac-Toe’

Anyone can draw a tic-tac-toe board on a piece of paper, but that’s boring. Instead, use household objects or chalk to bring this classic game to life. Play with rocks, seashells or even toys, and outline the board on construction paper or the driveway to make it big or small.

Choose your favorite games

The next time you want to have fun, think about your favorite games and see if there are new ways to play them. Experience tic-tac-toe on your driveway, print bingo cards or create your own memory match cards. You and your loved ones will have fun in new ways while reliving games that created so many happy memories.
