Manassas is one of the larger cities in the Northern Virginia (NOVA) region. From a historical perspective, it was near this city that the Civil War’s First Battle of Manassas and the Second Battle of Manassas were fought. It’s perhaps a little difficult to imagine that such a thriving example of commerce and economic stability in NOVA had something to do with two of the most noteworthy battles in all of the history of the Civil War. Given that the area was originally known as Manassas Junction, this makes sense.
